Tracking numbers may need to be updated when modifying call routes or adjusting

number specific attributes

settings like recording options, outbound calls being displayed

 The purpose of this guide is to explain how you can edit tracking numbers and make those changes.

You must be

signed into

signed into CallPotential's web version as an Administrator to access Settings and edit a tracking number.

Access

  • (A) Settings - Click to access all your available administrative settings.

  • (B) Phone Numbers - Click to access

    the tracking number list

    your full list of tracking numbers.

Select Which Tracking Number to Edit - Note: After clicking Phone Numbers, the list will initially default to

show Active

  • (C) Add a Filter - Click the dropdown to filter by number, associated ad, or location.

  • (D) Search - You can

    search by

    enter freeform information here such as a specific number or location. The list will dynamically update as you type.

Edit Tracking Number

  • (E) Edit - Click to access the settings for a specific tracking number.

Edit Settings - Note: Changes made here my impact the information contained in the Ad Performance Report.

  • (F)Location - Click the dropdown to change the location the number

    is associated

    will dial.

  • (G) Ad - This is the ad source the number is associated. Associating a phone number with an ad source allows you to track the effectiveness of your advertisements. In other words, this means the ad associated with the number can be credited with generating the call and allowing you to justify its expense. Click the dropdown to change the ad source the number is associated. 

  • (H)Call Routing Rule -

    Click the dropdown to adjust the routing based on number or location settings. Location default uses the default location call route. If you want a number to route differently than the location (collection number), it can be set here

     If you want the number to follow the call route assigned to the location, leave this as "USE LOCATION DEFAULT". This is the typical setting for most location numbers. However, if you want the number to follow a unique call route, click the dropdown to select the unique call route.

  • (I)Script Card -

    Click the dropdown to associate a script card based on the tracking number. Location default uses the default location script card. If you acquire a number to run an ad, you can then associate a custom script which references that ad

     If you want calls to this number to populate the script assigned to the location, leave this as "USE LOCATION DEFAULT". This is the typical setting for most location numbers. However, if you want the number to populate a unique script, click the dropdown to select the unique script.

  • (J) Record Inbound Call - By default, inbound calls will be recorded.

    Uncheck the box to

    Uncheck the box so that the system does not record inbound calls. 

  • (K) Exclude Number -

    Click

     Click the checkbox to exclude the number from being used

    as the

    in outbound calls’ caller ID

Note: Setting up webhooks (L) - (O) isn't mandatory and if you aren't using them, this section can be skipped. However, if you are using webhooks, these steps need to be completed for them to successfully work. Click here to learn more about webhooks.

  • (L) Webhooks -

    If using a webhook, paste the link here from Google Analytics.

    Edit the existing or paste a new webhook link in this window. 

  • (M) Parameter Name -

    Enter the Google Analytics column

     Enter the specific information you want

    to associate with the (N) Value

    sent to your analytics platform.

  • (N) Value -

    The system variable you want associated with the (M) parameter

    Click the dropdown to select the system or custom variable that represents the parameter name you entered in (M). Click for more information system variables.

  • (O) Add -

    This will become

     This becomes enabled when a parameter name and value

    are selected

    have been entered. Click to add additional Parameter Names and Values.

Save

  • (P) Save - Click to save any edits made to the tracking number and return to the My Tracking Numbers list.

  • (Q) Cancel - Click to discard any edits made to the tracking number and return to the My Tracking Numbers list.
